You're not an ordinary fella!
For Christmas in 1st grade, my sister and I got a combined gift of Dance Dance Revolution: SuperNOVA with some dance pads for our PlayStation 2. We loooved that thing! After graduating college and moving home to live with my parents in 2023, I got super bored, and super into the DDR emulator world. When I moved across the country with everything I wanted to bring with me in my car, you bet my new DDR mat was taking up a chunk of that limited trunk space.
Despite all my talk, I haven't actually played in a bit... :( I moved to an apartment on the 2nd floor a year and a half ago, and got too nervous about disturbing my neighbors. But I carry my e-Amusement card on me wherever I go! Maybe this shrine will give me the push to finally drag that mat out from its home under my bed...
If anyone plays DDR on an upper-floor apartment, let me know if it bothers the people under you... until then I'll get all my love for DDR out here. ( •̯́ ₃ •̯̀)

Dance Dance Revolution is a rhythm game by Konami first released in 1998! It's notable for creating the dancing game format, where a player uses their feet on a gamepad for input rather than a traditional controller. It's part of Konami's Bemani series of rhythm games, and while the franchise is primarily released for arcades, there have been many "home" versions for various consoles over the years.

I primarily played Dance Dance Supernova (2006) on my Playstation 2 growing up, and while I've played a few different arcade verisons, most of my experience with the franchise (as thus this shrine) is centered around that one game. In recent years, I've played on my computer at home using a program called Stepmania, which is a DDR emulator of sorts. It allows you to import community-mapped songs, so I have a lot of Supernova and a lot of KPop! If you are interested in getting into DDR, I highly recommend Stepmania.

Despite my love for DDR, I am not that great at it... at my best, I can do a level 6 or 7 (67? sorry) on difficult. That might sound cool if you don't know much about DDR, but there are two more difficulty levels (expert and challenge) beyond "difficult" and that numbered scale (the foot scale as it used to be called) goes up to 20.
So you want to dance?
If you're looking to get into DDR, here are my favorite community resources:
♪ Zenius -I- Vanisher is a great way to find a DDR machine, or any arcade game near you- including what type of cabinet it is and its condition. It even can be as specific as noting if a certian arrow on a machine is sticky!
♪ Stepmania is my favorite way to play at home; it's a DDR emulator with endless customization! I use this DDR Supernova theme on mine, although it's unfinished, so a little rough around the edges. It does the job!
♪ Songs for Stepmania can be downloaded in the form of Simfiles. My favorite places to look are on Zenius -I- Vanisher or Youtube (try looking up an artist you like and "Stepmania"- many creators will post previews of their maps with links to download)!
♪ I bought my dance pad on Amazon, although I can't find the specific seller anymore. It works great! I also have some EVA foam mats (the kind that look like big puzzle pieces) from my local hardware store that I put under my mat for more stability.
